Description: Formerly known as A3J Engineering Inc., the company is identified as a developer and a manufacturer for security and advanced communication devices. The company has gained reputation for the manufacturing of modems (ADSL, external, embedded, industrial), weapon detection systems, and web cameras. Based in Taiwan, the company is mostly involved in the security, industrial, and IT markets.

The management team currently headed by Dr. Wen J. Whan (CEO) established the name 3JTech in 1988. The creation of the company was the result of GRI (Geophysics Resources Inc.) attempting to manufacture its own communication devices. Prior to the transition, GRI in 1977 developed systems and instrumentations used in geothermal searching as well as oil exploration. Technologies implemented by GRI have certain similarities to various communication products.

Presently, 3JTech has a workforce of 45 engineers and 40 other employees assigned to other operation. Dual-In Line Package (DIP) and Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) technologies are featured in the manufacturing plant of the company which are situated in Shenzhen (China) and Kaoshung (Taiwan). The company also retains a branch in California. The company’s operation focused mostly on the development of peripherals for PC and Mac computer systems that are deployed in IT and industrial markets. The company also keeps close association with OEM modem companies.

The production of security devices commenced in 1996 along with the offering of research and development services mostly for OEM and engineering support. ODM and OEM business partners (like Connect One) supports the distribution process for the services and hardware solutions provided by 3JTech. With the advent of wireless technology, the company also got involved in the manufacture of modems supporting Bluetooth capability.

The company is responsible for the creation of data transmission devices that incorporate IP protocols allowing for communication between various computer terminals. Industrial products produced by the company include modems (TCP/IP, wireless, and industrial), remote control power devices, and serial cameras. The company likewise provides remote surveillance (standalone) products along with video gateway devices. The video gateway series is equipped with a motion detector which supports the function of a maximum of four analog cameras.

3Jtech also released a Java based application which allows the enabling of GPRS/CDMA technology to allow users to view eCAMit images remotely. eCAMit is a network based camera solution that is further enhanced by the software. The camera uses CMOS technology along with a built-in IP feature. The camera can be deployed in as an IP sharing device either with a dynamic or static IP addressing across an Ethernet connection.

Building on the success of the eCAMit device, the company released the eCAMit III which featured a high resolution color camera capable of a 640 by 480 pixel resolution. The device plugs directly to an RJ45 Ethernet port with a functionality of viewing camera relayed images from anywhere around the globe via mobile phones (GPRS), PDA, or remote computer. The eCAMit device also comes with a recording function.
