Company Name: Advance Modules

Description: Advance Modules was founded in September 1999 with the incorporation of its subsidiary Advance Module Sdn Bhd (AMM). AMM was a private limited Malaysian company manufacturing memory products. The company’s present Group Managing Director, Vincent Tan Hian Chong, was the one who founded Advance Modules.

The company started selling their Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) in 2001. In the same year, two more subsidiaries were acquired. Its sales office and subsidiary in Hong Kong came to be known as Advance Modules (H.K.) Limited. AMSH or the Advance Module (Shanghai) Company Limited is the company’s manufacturing facility. AMSH supports its OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) clients supplying Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM.

Advance Module acquired a sales office in California, USA in May 2003. They called it Advance Module (USA) or AMUSA. The company then made a move to reduce external supplier dependence and established Advance Module Semiconductor Packaging Company Limited or AMSP. Advance Module announced its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in September 19, 2005 through the Main Board of the Singapore Stock Exchange.

In April 2008, AMG entered a Joint Development and Licensing Agreement with Advanpack Solutions Pte. Limited (APS). APS is a provider of flip chip solutions to semiconductor companies. It has licensed the Copper Pillar Bump to AMG. AMG’s part of the agreement is to contribute its Chip Scale Packaging (CSP) to explore APS’ Paper Leadframe application to memory products. AMG is considered the first memory product company to use both CSP and Paper Leadframe technology.

Advance Modules manufactures memory products for personal computers, notebooks, laser printers, and multimedia players. Its products are under the brand name “Advance Modules,” “AM Plus+” or “AMV.” The company has gained an edge over memory manufacturers operating in the US and Europe through to its cost competitive manufacturing facilities in Malaysia and China. The company also ensures that it uses quality raw materials for its AMSP plant in Shanghai.

Advance Modules products are divided into two groups: memory modules and flash memory products. The SDRAM and DDR SDRAM (double data rate SDRAM) are in the memory module category, whereas the USB flash drive, Secure Digital (SD) card, mini SD card, and MMC (Multimedia Card) are in the flash memory product category.
