Company Name: AICA
Description: The AICA Kogyo Company, Ltd. is a manufacturing company established on October 20, 1936 and specialized in the production of housing fixtures and materials, chemicals, laminated sheets, and electronic equipments. Based primarily in Japan and actively involved in the local market, it began its operation with its Chemicals Division (Aichi Kagaku Kogyo) with a startup capital of ¥1 million and maintaining its headquarters at Aichi Tokei with Nagoya based operations commencing the following year.
The company was also involved in the production of spark plugs, reinforced glass, adhesives, and safety glass which is custom fitted into aircrafts. After over a decade of existence, the company went public and joined the Nagoya Stock Exchange.
During the early portion of the 1960s the company launched to the market the AICA DECOLITE which was a Melamine laminated sheet. Subsequently, the products name was changed to AICA Melamine sheets. By July of 1962 the company had enlisted in the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and after four years, the company became known as AICA Kogyo Company, Ltd. The company retains this corporate name up to this day.
In May of 1986 AICA Kogyo Company, Ltd. became part of the First Section of both the Nagoya and the Tokyo Stock Exchanges. At the height of the Asian Financial Crisis, the company remained unfazed and probably exhibited its best performance. During this era the company attained its ISO 9001 Certification, two years later, its ISO 14001 was granted.
These certifications carry a big weight in the international market because they were recognitions of the company’s efforts to attain and maintain the best practices in production standards based on a set of specifications. These certifications are also a testament to the company’s efforts to incorporate environmental protection into their manufacturing process.
Company management luminaries include Akitsugu Tomita (CEO), Chikashi Noda (Senior Managing Director and Director of Overseas Business), and Yoshimitsu Ito (Managing Director for Tokyo). The company has a huge workforce of 1,014 employees. AICA has generated annual revenues of $88,721,121 (2004), $94,333,718 (2005), and $96,486,007 (2006).
In 1984, with the growing demands in the field of Information Technology, AICA ventured into the digital market to manufacture consumable electronics that were in demand in the industry. The company quickly established a name for itself in the area of electronic system and circuit board manufacturing. AICA established a niche in the IT industry as a premiere supplier of Printed Wiring Boards (PWB) which are halogen free and follow an assembly process that does not utilize any lead soldering.
The company also produces electric optical and co-installed application system based. The Electronics Division of AICA maintains the highest production quality in the area of production of Single, Double, and Multilayer Rigid Electronic Boards. Its board components commonly fall under the classification of High Speed Interface PWB, EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) Reducing PWB, and EMI absorption and shield materials.
