Company Name: Alacritech
Description: Considered as one of the leading technology providers in the field of innovative data delivery technology, the company pioneers products that integrate networking and storage support. The company is known for implementing technologies that increases the performance, power, and speed of network servers for establishing a truly scalable network.
Enterprises that utilize Alacritech's proven technology experience better reduction of network processing burden on their server machines along with the scalability of support for more applications and clients to attain higher performance levels in maximizing network utilization.
Larry Boucher, the company’s CEO, put up the company sometime in 1997 with a handpicked core team of engineers to develop and produce the company’s deliverables in San Jose, California.
Other management board luminaries include Esther Lee (Chief Financial Officer), Richard Blackborow (Vice President of Engineering), Patrick Riley (Director of Product Management), Russell Lait (Vice President of Operations), and Doug Rainbolt (Vice President of Sales and Marketing).
The Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) technology including its primary specifications were conceptualized by CEO Larry Boucher. He was also responsible for conducting research and development on SCSI technology across Ethernet networks.
In 2004, some legal issues arouse between Broadcom, Microsoft, and Alacritech based on patent infringements. By 2005 the suit was settled with the parties agreeing to the licensing of the patents of Alacritech.
Outstanding features of the company’s products include network scalability which allows servers to maintain huge number of clients with greater storage space resulting in the enhancement of network usage.
The company’s Accelerator products operate based on the proprietary and patented Dynamic TCP Offload technology. This implementation ultimately benefits server performance upon loading of network based applications on a Microsoft Windows Operating System environment.
Moreover, this technology is widely responsible for relieving the processor of the burden of hosting including the difficult procedure of network processing via tapping on the capabilities of the CPU hardware. The server therefore becomes more available to cater to tasks that are designed to be specifically handled by the machine like processing of various network traffics and maintaining system integrity. This technology is also capable of reducing the number of data center performance problems.
The Scalable Network Accelerators and the iSCSI Scalable Network Accelerators are two of the most notable technologies to be deployed by the company to the IT market in terms of TCP offloading.
The company is a member of the SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association). It also maintains partnership with established companies in the IT industry like LeftHand Networks, EqualLogic, emBoot, Double Take Software, Advanced Computer & Network Corporation, ACAL Storage Networking, Alliance Technologies, Total iTec, Aberdeen, Promark Technology, Ingram Micro, and Bell Microproducts.
By July 2008 the 10Gbe storage and network accelerator devices developed by the company have been shipped to OEM companies for their evaluation. These companies have agreed to the evaluation process based solely on Alacritech’s reputation for leadership and history in the development of Dynamic TOE (TCP/IP Offload Engines).
