DESCRIPTION: AME Optimedia Technology Co. was founded in November 1987 and is based in Taiwan. With an initial capital of $150,000, AME started as a developer of PC cameras.

One year after it was established, AME released its first product – The Vcam PC camera. Much later on, it managed to become the first manufacturer of PC camera in Taiwan installing productions lines in large volumes.

In March of 1998, AME introduced the Vgrab at the CeBIT tradeshow in Germany, and after a few months they released the Vcam USB PC Cameras in an event called Computex in Taipei. That same year, it also started the mass producing USB products, to meet clients' needs.

The Vcam CU-98A garnered international recognition in 1999. Free Access, a popular Australian magazine awarded the product for its excellence. It was also awarded the “Five Star Best Buy Award” from a British computer magazine called PC Guide. In South Korea, Vcam also garnered a top rating from a local magazine called “Bench Mark”.

A year after the Vcam, they developed the TV Explorer, a video grabber equipped with FM radio and TV tuner capabilities. They also introduced the VIPO, USB Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) products and a USB PC camera equipped with a video-input capability at the CeBit tradeshow in Germany.

In 2004, AME developed a camera that was water proof called the “IR Camera” along with the MPEG4 Hardware Compress Video Grabber and 1.3M PC camera. They also announced the release of the USB 2.0 and 60fps USB Quad and Dome camera with vandal varifocal lens at the TaiTronic and Essen tradeshows.

Also among AME’s list of products is the Optimedia's USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Digital QuadPlexer or DQP-A4 Pro. It is a Digital Video Recorder or DVR designed to convert all CCTV camera images to digital data. It is connected to the PC thru a USB 2.0 port to access the images recorded on the PC. The DQP-A4 also provides Motion Detection and can be monitored via the Internet.

Another product of AME is the IPO-141. It is a USB VoIP device that includes an RJ14 connector that needs to be used with a RJ14 telephone handset or earphone. It is connected to the USB port of a computer for power and features a full duplex audio and echo cancellation.

Finally, one of AME Technologies' most recent products is the CU-001 Vcam USB. It is a 350K pixel CCB PC camera with a built-in microphone. It uses the Progressive Color CCD sensor developed by Sony to provide excellent quality for videos on notebooks and in the Internet. It is considered the fastest USB Camera that is V1.1 PC in the world due to its VGA 640x480 resolution even with a speed of 30 frames per second.
