An Internet connection using a dial-up can only deliver a speed of 56 kbps.
At its prime, Amquest has had a long list of models of modems that they have developed and manufactured. The best devices had been manufactured by the company and were the best in the market.
Like a majority of companies that are committed to customer service, Amquest has never failed to include in each of their products a limited lifetime warranty. While it was still in operation, the company provided its end-users, clients and customers after-sales service and support that had been above-average.
The last product that Amquest had introduced in the market was the Quad modem. It was a special type of modem that functions like four modems thereby increasing the speed of the user’s Internet connection of up to four times the usual speed. The said modem could work as fast as 230 kbps during download and was already a huge improvement then from the 56 kbps provided by the standard modems. It was an innovative product and would have been popular had it not been for the emergence of broadband Internet connections.
The Quad modem of Amquest had worked well in paper as well as in the real world and had left customers, end-users and clients impressed with the company’s commitment of bringing technology to everyone.
The modems manufactured by Amquest were Conexant Systems-based. Conexant Systems had previously been the Rockwell chipsets. The products worked on both the 56k Flex and V.90 standard modem. Before the company went belly up, they used to maintain a comprehensive support site and website that users could go to in order to download free drivers and update software for their devices. The said support site had also contained relevant press releases and information about the company’s products.
Amquest had failed to cope with the fast paced changes in modern technology and was forced out of the industry. The closure of the company resulted in the discontinuance of Amquest products. Their customers shifted to devices that are manufactured by other companies because Amquest could no longer provide assistance to them.
