The Askey Computer Corporation had been incorporated on the same year it started the manufacture of telecommunications devices and modems. It was in 1995 that the Taiwan Securities and Exchange Commission approved the company’s request to go public or be listed publicly in Taiwan’s stock exchange. After four years, Askey Computer put up a manufacturing plant in Chungho, Taiwan and another one in the Jiangsu province of China. The company is headquartered in Chonghu, Taiwan.
In 1995, the company was accredited by the International Standards Organization or ISO. The said accreditation guarantees that the facilities of Askey Computer for manufacturing have satisfied the regulatory requirements for product quality and reliability.
Four years later, the company received its ISO9002, UK BABT340 and ISO14001 certifications. It was also a recipient of the Data Over Cable System Interface Specification or DOCSIS certification from the Cable Labs for the company’s cable modems. Askey Computer is the first IT company based in Taiwan to become a recipient of the 802.11g standard.
The research and development team of Askey Computer is comprised of individuals that have a vast experience in the development of broadband access technology. The objective of the R and D team is the provision of a much faster, easier and more cost-efficient Internet solutions to its consumers.
The Askey CME210 DOCSIS Cable Modem is the flagship product of the company. The said product is ideal for educational, commercial and home usage of the Internet by means of a pre-existing cable infrastructure. The cable modem is capable of operating at a speed that is one hundred times faster than the analog modems. The product has an LED display and has the capability of supporting video conferencing and interactive 3D gaming.
The DMT ADSL router manufactured by Askey Computer enables its users to use the PSTN line to access the Internet and a VPN or Virtual Private Network at the same time and at high-speed. It also permits users to set up Internet connections via an Internet Service Provider or ISP using a telephone line connection. The product is capable of supporting up to twelve PCs connected to an Ethernet LAN.
In addition to its wired LAN solutions, Askey Computer also provides wireless LANs. The Askey Wireless LAN Access Point enables professionals to connect to a corporate network even when outside the premises of the office. It may also be implemented in homes where a family has a number of personal computers. The product may be employed so the family could share a single ISP account.
The latest product released by Askey Computer is the Askey Set-Top Box. It is designed to provide users with a comfortable way to access the Internet because no monitors are required for browsing the World Wide Web. The product is packaged with an infrared remote control, keyboard and a built-in microphone that users can use for recording and sending voice mail.
