Company Name: Asuscom
Description: AsusTek Computer Incorporated or Asuscom is a Taiwanese international company that is involved in the manufacture of computer cooling systems, notebook PCs, networking products, servers, motherboards, mobile phones, optical drives, graphics cards, computer components, and cases. The company is a part of the LSD London Stock Exchange and TSE or Taiwan Stock Exchange and is more known as ASUS.
The company was established by Acer’s computer engineers in Taipei, Taiwan in 1989. In the beginning years of the company, ASUS struggled to gain recognition in the industry of computer hardware. Companies based in Taiwan like ASUS are required to wait for around 6 months after having submitted their engineering samples for companies such as IBM to accept them. New processors from Intel are a priority for companies that are established like IBM.
When Intel had released its processor Intel 486 as engineering prototypes, ASUS determined to make their very own 486 motherboard despite the fact that they did not have the 486 processor in hand. ASUS had built the 486 motherboard by relying on the technical specifications made available by Intel and their experience in designing motherboards that were 386 compatible.
The 486 motherboard model made by ASUS was then brought to Intel’s base located in Taiwan for it to be tested. At around that time, the 486 motherboard of Intel had been encountering flaws in the design. In collaboration with the founders of ASUS, the problem was ironed out. Upon testing the ASUS motherboard prototype, Intel found that it functioned properly and so began the business relationship between ASUS and Intel.
Engineering prototypes are now provided to ASUS before the company’s competitors. ASUS has also been known to support the Common Building Block plans of Intel which are a set of standards implemented to the components of laptops. In early 2008, the ASUS divided the company into three subsidiaries referred to as ASUS, Unihan, and Pegatron
ASUS is responsible for the production of first party labeled PCs while Pegatron handles the manufacture of OEM components and motherboards. Unihan is responsible for the manufacture of computer components that included molding and cases.
Presently, ASUS is involved in the manufacture of a wide array of products including barebone PCs, desktop, audio cards, Eee notebook family, HSDPA cards, graphic cards, LCD monitors, mobile phones, multimedia, motherboards, optical storage, PC components, servers, PDAs, thermal solution, webcam and notebooks.
