Company Name: Barom Technologies Co. Ltd.

Description: On April 17, 1999, Interlab Co. was established in South Korea by a group of people who were then connected with Samsung Electronics Laboratory. This group engaged themselves in the design, development, and manufacture of digital audio players.

In June 1999, the company changed its corporate name to Barom Technologies Co. which ushered a new era for the company. This change in name triggered the company’s rapid growth that eventually led to the creation of its own subsidiary company known as Barom Technologies Multimedia Laboratory on October 1999. Within the same year, the company entered into a venture agreement with the state-managed Small and Medium Industry Promotion Corporation.

The principal place of business of Barom Technologies Co. is located at BAROM Bldg. 643-3, YokSam-Dong, GangNam-Gu Seoul, South Korea. The company is presently managed by its Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Han (CPA) who has held that position since April 2000.

Two months after the company was created, the company applied a patent for its MP3 title data system. The product was a broadcast method for audio information as well as a form of linguistic system that utilizes digital data.

The MP3 title data system initiated the series of events for the successful beginning of the company. This product also stimulated the desire of the members of the company to become more actively involved in producing digital audio products that could satisfy the needs of the industry.

As testament to the company’s contributions to the audio digital industry, Barom Technologies Co. was acknowledged by small and medium industry promotion industries. The company was likewise named as Korea’s Superior Technology Company. As a result of the company’s excellence in its chosen field, various companies made significant investments on the company that include Samsung Corporation and the Taiwan-based company CMC.

Presently, Barom Technologies Co. is still regarded as one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of digital music players despite the stiff competition it receives from other designers and manufacturers.

The company is best known for its irock mp3 player and the irock Beamit Wireless Music Adapter (400FM). These products enable the user to listen to music originating from any portable audio player by the simple process of exporting the music to an FM radio-based audio player. The company’s industry also includes the manufacture and design of various external and internal storage devices.
