Description: Biostar Microtech International Corporation is a Taiwan-based company that was established on 1986 at Sindian City, Taiwan. The company was founded by the Biostar Group, a group of people engaged in the buying and selling of electronic parts.

The principal location of the company’s operations is Taiwan. Biostar has various offices spread all over the world that manages the company’s regional sales and operations. Affiliated offices of the company can be located in California, Florida, Latin America, China and Netherlands.

During the first part of the company’s operations and with the IT industry still in early phases, Biostar was primarily engaged in the production of motherboards and add-on cards. The mainboards designed and manufactured by the company were for the XT form factor. Subsequently, the company ventured into the design and manufacture of multimedia and system products including add-on cards.

In 1990, realizing the need to expand its services, Biostar established a manufacturing firm in China. In 1999, the company was registered as an IPO. Within the same year, the company also became an ISO 9001 accredited company. The company’s stocks were also publicly traded in the Taiwan Stock Exchange with an identification number 2399.

As testament to the company’s booming industry, the company realized an annual revenue of more than 9 billion Taiwanese dollars by 2007. Around 82% of the income came from the sale of motherboards and with approximately 12% coming from sales of VGA cards.

The principal product line of Biostar Microtech International Corporation is computer hardware. The company designs, develops and markets these devices initially for OEM and IT-related companies industries. Soon the company expanded its sales operations to branded products. Part of the company’s product lines are industrial computers, barebone computers, motherboards and video cards.

One feature of Biostar devices is the overclocking component that allows the company’s devices to operate at more clock cycles per second than the standard devices. With faster operability, processing time for basic processes is also hastened.


The company also takes pride of its Biostar Video cards that enables users to fix the devices’ frequencies and voltages. This capability is made possible by the processing unit of the Video card. These modified cards are usually referred to as V Ranger or V-Series. The company’s mainboards are likewise upgradeable in the same manner such as the T-series motherboards.

In 2008, the product was included among the top 20 brads in the world by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
