Brooktree Drivers

Description: Brooktree is a US company that was established in 1983 by the American entrepreneur and physicist Soun Katzentein. In arriving with the company’s name, its founder named it to give indication as place where Katzentein resided at the time the circuit arrangement was invented. With the company, Katzentein hopes to put into commercial use his new design for the digital-to-analog (DAC) converters that he had developed. The company is principally located at the United States.

Brooktree changed its corporate name to Conexant Systems. The company is presently managed by Scott Mercer as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Christian Scherp as President, Sailesh Chittipedd as the Chief Technical Officer and Executive Vice President of Global Operations, Karen Roscher as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President and Mark D. Peterson as the Chief Legal Officer, Secretary and Senior Vice President.

Some of the major operations of the company are headed by Scott L. Allen as the Senior Vice President of Communications and Investor Relations, George Chu as the Senior Vice President and President of China Operations, Craig Garen as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Broadband Access.

Other key people include Jean Hu as the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Bernd Lienhard as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Imaging and PC Media, Andy Smith as the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Michael Vishny as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

Brooktree was able to introduce its first product called the 8-bit CMOS D/A converter that was designed for use on video applications. In 1985, the company introduced the first Video DAC which had an output clock rate of up to 75 MHz. The product had ¼ LSB accuracy of three to eight times with that of a standard device. The company also is known for its Br848 and BR878.

In 1996, Rockwell Semiconductors acquired Brooktree. Within the same year, Rockwell Conductors was changed to Conexant Systems, Inc. that then became a publicly-listed company as a semi-conductor firm. On April 29, 2008, NXP Semiconductors took control of Conexant’s interest in its Broadband Media Processing that was then a known provider of set-top box solutions.

Conexant Systems, Inc. offers various solutions to its customers on matters concerning imaging, video, Internet connectivity and audio. The company boasts of its imaging products that offer a comprehensive list of multifunction printers, fax machines and digital photo frames. The company’s video products include component and systems that can be used for PCTV and video surveillance purposes. On the other hand, the company’s audio products provide solutions for speakers, PCs as well as audio subsystems.

Central and peripheral equipment solutions that are designed for DSL networks, VDSL and top of the line residential gateways that have wireless networks and integrated voice are also offered by Conexant. The company also offers passive optical networking applications.
