Description: Buffalo Technology, the top manufacturer of personal computers in Japan, was established by Makoto Maki in 1975. The company is currently one of the subsidiary companies of Melco Holdings, Inc., a family business run by Makoto Maki. The company’s general headquarters is located at Japan. It also subsidiary offices spread over three continents.
The management group of Buffalo Technology is led by Makoto Maki as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President. Other members of the management team are Kuniaki Saiki as the Senior Managing Director and Hiromichi Maki as the Managing Director. The company’s Board of Directors is composed of Iwao Tsusaka, Hidetoshi Yamaguchi and Arimichi Yokoe.
On the other hand, the finance and auditing group is composed of Kiyoshi Kobayashi as the Senior Corporate Auditor and three companyCorporate Auditors, namely, Yuzuru Kawashima, Toshio Nishikawa and Tomotsune Sumi.
Originally, Buffalo Technology was established for the purpose of manufacturing audio equipments. However, in 1981, the company also joined the competitive market of computer peripherals when the Buffalo EEPROM writer was launched. Incidentally, the name “Buffalo” was taken from the company’s product called the printer buffer, the first peripheral product produced by Buffalo Technology.
Buffalo Technology is regarded as one of the world’s leaders in the design and manufacture of products for wireless networking, storage solutions and multimedia that are used for home and small business enterprises. For the years 2005 and 2006, the company was regarded as the world’s top performing company in the NAS consumer market.
Upon The incorporation of Melco Holdings Inc. in 1986, Buffalo Technology was given the additional responsibility of manufacturing computer peripheral products such as ROM/DVD-RW drives, random access memory products, flash memory products, Microsoft Windows accelerators and Local Area Network products.
The company is highly recognized for is wireless networking products, Buffalo’s award winning and flagship commodity. These products are user-friendly and can deliver high performance for home owners as well as small business users. The company’s most recent product in its random access memory (RAM) line is the Buffalo DDR3-SDRAM with 2400 MHz.
To help the company become the leader in producing technological kits that can be used by its targeted market, the company had to make strategic alliances with computer companies. The affiliated companies of Buffalo include Microsoft, Intel, Nintendo and Broadcom.
In recognition of the company’s products, Buffalo Technology had been the recipient of a number of awards, local and international. Recently, the company earned the recognition for it LinkStation Mini 1 Terabyte as the “2008 American Photo Editor’s Choice: Digital Storage”.
