The company’s unit for manufacturing switching products was regarded as the most profitable sector of the company with sales reaching a record amount of 100 million Euros in 2004 alone.

The company also joined the computer industry as a trendsetter for input devices. Cherry’s main strengths in this field are its POS keyboard, mouse peripheral device and industrial applications. In 1998, the company began developing low-cost computer keyboards in response to the consumers’ clamors of electronic devices that are in a way eco-friendly.

The company’s Greenline keyboard series gained prominence in the market after complying with certain stringent environmental standards. This was made possible with the assistance of the Germany-based Association for the Environment and Nature Conservancy.

One of the latest products of Cherry Electrical Products Ltd. is the CyMotion Pro Keyboard (G895-20050) series. The product is member of the company’s product line CyMotion keyboard family. The company also takes pride for its recently-released product called the SmartBoart (G83-6744) which has a smart card reader that requires security passwords or number inputs.

Just recently, the company announced that it was going to be acquired by a leading German electronic company identified as ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
