In 1988, the company received recognition from PC Clones magazine of being among the top five keyboard manufacturers in Taiwan. In 1999, the company began developing digital images such as DSCs and PCCs.

In October of 2001, The Company was at the 27th position in the Economic Performance Top 200 companies as issued by Taiwan’s Accounting Research monthly magazine. Within the same year, the company was able to put up in Czech the company’s BTO full-functioned hub.

Likewise, Chicony Electronics was able to establish in 2002 its BTO hub in the Philippines. Within the same year, the company expanded by acquiring Hipro Electronics and made it a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chicony.

Presently, the company had established over 20 BTO hubs worldwide which facilitate the distribution of the company’s products and the offering of logistic networks to various countries and regions. These countries include the United States, Mexico, Japan, Canada, Brazil the member countries of the European Union.

Chicony electronics is managed by its Board of Directors that includes Mao-Kuel Lin as Vice Chairman and President of the company.

As part of its plan to diversify the company’s product portfolio, the company opened in 2005 the Camera Module Division. The company also opened a new factory in Wujian City, China last 2007.
