Description: Contour Design, Inc. is a company specializing in developing, researching and designing high quality alternative computer input devices. Based in Windham, New Hampshire, the company was founded in 1995 by Steve Wang. He is also the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer.

Contour Design produces exceptional ergonomic products ranging from Mics, iPods and iPhones, multimedia products, and medical devices or EMR. It has developed a form fitting mouse for both right-handed and left-handed users.

In 1995, the company began marketing the Perfit family of mouse devices. These are embedded with ball-equipped positioning mechanisms. Over the years, Contour Design produced state-of-the-art optical drives and improved software to replace the Perfit mice.

From its RollerMouse product line, Contour Design developed the MediMousePro, which can be used in hospitals and medical-associated activities. This comes in two product lines, a heavy duty cycle mouse device for intensive work and the low duty computer mouse for hospital carts. These can be disinfected for safe use in “red zone” environments. These are made of medical-grade polyurethene covers to prevent spreading health-associated infections.

Contour Design’s Perfit Mouse Optical received a certificate of honor from the International Ergonomics Association in 1997 for being “The Best Ergonomic Product.” It features an 800dpi precision optical tracking, twice that of other optical mice. The product was introduced in two specifications, one tailor made for right-handed and the other one made for left-handed users. It had elevated buttons to reduce stress on the fingertips. There is a thumb and elevated wrist support, multiple platforms that came along with programmable software.

The company also developed the ShuttlePRO™ V2 multimedia controller. It is a productivity enhancement tool for video and audio editors. It allows one-hand access to buttons and shuttle knobs.

Nine of the ShuttlePRO™’s buttons have removable keycaps for easier referencing and labeling. Compatible with both Macintosh and Windows, it can also be used for scrolling, sequencing, and volume control.

Aside from the Perfit Mouse Optical, several other Contour Design products received numerous accolades for their outstanding concepts. These include the Videomaker Best Products of the Year as “Best Post-Production Accessory” in 2001, the DV Award for Excellence for Contour ShuttlePRO, and the “Best Solutions Award” for the RollerMousePRO in 2005.
