The company history begins with the founding of Funkanlagen Leipoldt (FAL) OHG by Ralf and Thomas Leipoldt in 1990 in Germany. The company was primarily engaged in the design, manufacture and sales of dispatcher stations, fast-charging mobile radios and other handheld equipments.

It was in 1997 that FAL broke into the market of Global System for Mobile Communications. At that time, the company was focused on the sales, production and design of the FALCOM 1, its GSM terminal product line. A year later, FAL introduced its first ever approved and full-type module named FALCOM A2 which was specifically intended for the embedded applications of OEMs and for 2^nd Gen GSM terminals. 

Then in 1999, the Dual Band GSM 900/ 1800 was launched by the company under the product line FALCOM A2D. It was also in that same year that the company had struck a partnership contract with the company Wavecom S.A. in line with a variety of GSM solutions, applications and core technology.

FALCOM GmbH had been officially established by year 2000. The company had then overtaken Funkanlagen Leipoldt OHG’s commercial activities.  It was not soon before the company received its ISO:9001 certification. The accreditation from ISO included the development, manufacture and sales of products that are related to communication technology.

The company headquarter of FALCOM is presently located in Langewiessen, Germany. It has a manufacturing facility located on the same site that is involved in the manufacture of prototypes, mass production and limited-lot production. 

The company has also established strategic partnerships with a number of companies including Dynamic Data Communications, Intel Net S A, Locatient, Telit Wireless Solutions, Mobile Planet, Freescale, Siemens Mobile, SIRF, and Rocky Mountain Tracking. The company has software developers namely IMMS, Hetrogenous, Avanquest solutions and CProjekt. 

FALCOM’s products list include personal trackers, mobile data devices, AVL & Tracking, global positioning system modules, sensors and modules, accessories, Evalkits and software like Workbench and trace4you. The company claims that its products are highly successful and could easily be integrated into the projects of their clients thereby lessening the expenses incurred with what might otherwise have been an alternative solution.

It was in 2003 that FALCOM had launched its product line of Bluetooth ready Global Positioning System or GPS terminals. Then just recently, in 2008, the company made an announcement that it would be employing the u-blox 5 as a global positioning system engine for the future releases of GPS-based products of the company in its continuous effort of incorporating advanced and up-to-date technology into FALCOM products.
