Description: First International Computer Inc. (FIC) was founded by the husband and wife team of Dr. Ming J. Chien and Charlene Wang in Taipei, Taiwan. It first sold main frame computers and microcomputers in 1980. The company was listed in the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1980 and maintains its main office at No. 300, Yang Guang Street, Neihu in Taipei.

FIC started assembling and manufacturing its own first personal computer system in 1983. These earlier personal computer systems were then released under the brand name Leo.

Some of the listed top executives of FIC include Ming-Jen Chien as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Charlene Wang as President, John Villejo as Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Mike Liana as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Paul G. Kim as Marketing Director.

FIC is a strong contender in manufacturing and Research & Development. It manufactures computers and computer peripherals and equipment. It also designs and manufactures computer products for other electronics equipment companies. When the computer, communication and consumer electronics (3C) converged, FIC was able to adapt and became a respected manufacturer of 3C related products. It maintains its competitive edge through investments in research and development centered on its product line.

FIC products include the Sunbird desktop computer with Intel Virtualization Technology and Intel Active Management Technology, the CE260 laptop computer, the Mini PC ION A603 embedded computer system, and the K2MCP61 P Socket AM2 GeForce6100+ nForce 439 chipset. Aside from computer hardware and diversified electronics products, FIC also offers logistics services.

Presently, FIC partners with global IT companies particularly Intel Corp., NVIDIA, VIA Technologies and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. The NewMarket Technology bought 75% of the total shares of FIC’s Everex Systems PC.

FIC is part of the FIC Global collection of technology companies. Its principal subsidiaries are FIC Europe, FIC Brazil, FIC Sales Corp. Japan and FIC of America Inc. The main competitors of FIC include Quanta Computer Inc., Lite-On Tech. Corp., Synnex Technology International, and Elite Group Computer Systems Co. Ltd.

In 1991, the company opened manufacturing facilities in different countries. These manufacturing facilities are located in the Netherlands, the United States, Czech Republic, Brazil and China.
