The company had implemented its first TBT in 1995 and had been referred to as the Swift ALE or Adaptive Learning Environment. It utilized the Standard Generalized Markup Language or SGML as a content representation.
Gemini employs adaptive testing, SGMLs and ALEs for the company’s solution development. It has also generated the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol or HTTP Listener which is Gemini’s web server platform that is in place of a third server platform such as Microsoft IIS.
Gemini clients range from small-scale to large scale enterprises including Forestry, Environment, Engineering, Health and Safety, Private and Public Education, Real Estate Investment Markets and Graphical Communications.
The GeMS, SWIFT or Software Intelligent Freeform Training ALE, Stellar, Learning Management System or LMS and SWIFT Author are some of Gemini’s pioneering electronic learning solutions.
The GeMS SWIFT is made up of the SWIFT Author content authoring and management tool and SWIFT ALE learner interface. The environment of SWIFT is an Intelligent Tutoring System or ITS with the ATA or Adaptive Testing Algorithm and the Intelligent Tutor that interacts with the users. SWIFT exclusively employs the SGML, which is an HTML and XML predecessor in order to represent content.
The GeMS LMS is a proprietary administration system that provides sophisticated Intranet, DVD-ROM and Internet delivery. It is also involved in management, reporting systems, analysis and tracking and has an administrator and a server. It can therefore operate as a stand-alone or could be integrated into the existing structure of systems.
The core of the GeMS SWIFT is SWIFT ALE. The platform had been based on a one-on-one and user-controlled teaching method. It was based on this award-winning design and was released as a unique commercial in 1995.
The What You See Is What You Get system of the SWIFT Author is intended for making SWIFT adaptive and fixed-length assessments and SWIFT courses. The said platform has a content re-use that is automated and is capable of publishing assessment questions from one course to a new assessment.
The Skill Assessment Technology of Gemini is used worldwide including Cisco Systems, DHL, Keybank, Pitney Bowes, SunTrust, SkillMeasure, Richardson, and Butler.
A number of the initiatives of the Research and Development of Gemini have been made in partnership with various organizations namely the European Association for Distance Teaching, the Simon Fraser University, the Isogen International and the Alberta Research Council.
