Company Name: Hitachi

Description: Hitachi Ltd., an internationally known corporation, was established by Namihei Odaira in 1910. The company has three headquarters located in three cities in Japan, namely, Marunouchi Itchome, Chiyoda and Tokyo.

The company has a subsidiary known as the Hitachi Group (Hitachi Gurūpu) which is also one of the Divisions of the DXB Group of companies. It is a firm that puts emphasis on using high-technology and services.

At its inception, the company was an electrical repair shop. The company’s industry however evolved when it began to enter the international market and began it era of becoming one of the leaders in manufacturing products using the latest available technology. At present, the company ranks number 371 in the Forbes Global 2000 list for the year 2007.

Hitachi Group has various member companies under its name including the Hitachi Works. Hitachi Works is among the oldest members composing the Hitachi Group and is made up three factories, namely, Rinkai Works, Kaigan Works and Yamatte Works.

Yamatte Works is the first as well as the oldest of the three members. It is the Yamatte Works from which Hitachi Ltd. took its roots. It was established as a facility for the repair and manufacture of electrical equipments before being renamed Hitachi Ltd.

The company has a number of trainee interns that were first assigned to the factory prior to their assignment to other factory divisions. The people participating in these trainings at Hitachi Works are usually the senior personnel for the management. As a result, a number of the senior personnel of the company receive the assent of Hitachi Works.

After Hitachi Works emerged Hitachi Cable in 1956. This was subsequently followed two years later by Hitachi Canadian Industries. Hitachi operates under seven separate and distinct industry segments depending on the products and services offered by each. Every segment of the company offers its own portfolio of electronic products and services to suit the need of its customers. The product ranges from social infrastructure to home appliances.

The company has a number of corporate visions which include the promotion of inspiration to customers through its highly innovative and distinct products. The company also exerts all means possible to design and develop new technologies and equipments for the next succeeding generations. The company envisions itself of becoming a dynamic company that constantly adapts and grows in the new century.

For the company’s contributions in the industry particularly in the area of creating novel talents and technologies, it has been made the recipient of the Investment in People Award and Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards by Enterprise Asia for the year 2007.
