Steps to Fix Adobe Flash Player Not Working?
If you want to play movies or see animation on certain websites, you need a working copy of Adobe Flash Player. This third party software is used all over the Internet, and if there are problems with your copy, it can slow or stop your browsing experience. If you are having trouble with Adobe Flash Player, there are several things you can do to fix it.
Security Problems
You need to have a security system on your computer, but if your settings are too high, you may be blocking Flash Player. Anything higher than a medium setting will probably cause Flash Player to stall. If you aren’t sure, get into your security software, and make sure that “Download signed ActiveX controls” and “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” are set to “Prompt”, and that your security settings are at a medium level.
Computer Settings
Often, some computer settings will cause trouble for Flash Player. Do you have a pop-up blocker on your system that might be stopping Flash Player from running? If you have a third party firewall, try disabling it temporarily to see if that solves the problem – it may be conflicting with other installed firewalls. Is Flash Player crashing or freezing? You may have a memory issue-close any other programs that are running at the same time. If you are having trouble with only one website, but can see other sites that use Flash Player, that is probably an issue with the site itself and there’s not much you can do.
Uninstall and Reinstall
The fix you will see most often for Adobe Flash Player is to uninstall the program and then reinstall it from the Adobe website. Rather than just use Add/Remove Programs, you must uninstall it using the Flash Player uninstaller that is available on the Adobe website. Download the uninstaller, run it and remove the Player from your computer. Now go back to the Adobe website and download the newest version from the Download Center.
If you are getting errors when you are trying to install the ActiveX Control, you can find the Flash Payer ActiveX zip file on the Adobe website. Put the file on your system, open it and let it run on your machine.
Permissions
If you have tried to uninstall using the Adobe uninstaller and then reinstalled the program but are still getting errors, you may be experiencing a permissions issue. You can go to the Microsoft website and download the SubLnACL which should fix these types of permissions issue.
Registry Cleaners
It’s possible that registry issues are preventing Adobe Flash Player from working properly. The best way to clean the registry is with third-party registry cleaning software that you can find on the Internet. You can get into the registry manually, but it is not recommended unless you are a professional.
