The company used to focus mainly on photography equipment and paraphernalia, but now has also ventured into manufacturing office equipment such as photocopiers and facsimile machines, optical devices, and graphics imaging equipment. The company’s headquarters are strategically situated internationally in Japan, America, Europe and Asia.

Konica Minolta Holdings, Inc. is spearheaded by its President and CEO, Yoshikatsu Ota. Senior executive officers are, namely, Shoei Yamana, Hiroshi Ishiko, Takashi Matsumaru, Toshifumi Hori, Akio Kitani, Kiyofumi Tanida, Masatoshi Matsuzaki,  Yasuo Matsumoto, and Yoshihiko Someya. Executive Officers are Tomohisa Saito, Hideki Okamura, Atsushi Kodama, Takashi Sugiyama, Takumi Kawakami, Hisashi Tokumaru, Yoshiaki Ando, Masaru Kamei, Yoshifumi Johno, Masami Akiyama, Nobuyasu Ieuji, and Toshihiko Karasaki.

It employs a holding company system comprised of a holding company and separate business and common function companies. The holding company has committees in auditing, compensation and nomination.  Each committee has a director to handle management supervision, and executive officers. They ensure sound and transparent management. 

Konica Corporation was first established in the year 1873. Rokusaburo Sugiura sold photographic and lithographic materials in Tokyo. In the year1928, Kazuo Tajima introduced the Nichi-Doku Shashinki Shoten. This product is one of the legacies of Minolta Co. Ltd.

In the year 2000, the two established a joint venture for polymerized toners. It was named Konica Minolta Supplies Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Konica Minolta Holdings is focused primarily in photography, involved in the production and selling of photo films and cameras. The company produces both colored and black-and-white photo film and paper, and they also have photo finishing equipment and chemicals. All these are made from photosensitive materials. 

Additionally, Konica Minolta also produces copiers both for plain paper and full-color. They manufacture facsimile machines and color laser printers. The merged company is now engaged in different computer and business technologies such as medical and graphic imaging, optics, sensing products and photo imaging businesses. 

Konica Minolta is considered as the leading manufacturer and distributor of photographic films. The top competitors of the company are Canon (Tokyo, Japan), Epson (Suwa, Japan) and Hewlett-Packard (Palo Alto, CA).
