Company Name: Lanier

Description: Lanier Worldwide Inc. is a company that manufactures digital multi-function products such as fax machines, copiers and printers. It was founded in 1934 using the name “Lanier Company” by Hicks Lanier, Sartain Lanier and Thomas Lanier in Nashville, Tennessee. It is currently under the management of Ron Potesky as Vice President for Corporate Product Marketing; Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of Marketing and a few others.

In 1968, Oxford Manufacturing Company acquired Lanier Worldwide Inc. Then, in 1983 it was acquired by Harris Corporation. In 1965, the president, Gene Milner was replaced by Wesley Cantrell. Under Cantrell’s leadership, Lanier became a subsidiary of Ricoh Corporation.

Lanier’s products consists of black and white multifunction, color multifunction, wide format, facsimile, scanners, printers, digital duplicators and production printing systems. They also have 29 kinds of black and white multifunction machines that can copy, print and scan only. However, they also have 23 models which can copy, print, scan and fax. Lanier also offers a set of 17 Color multifunction printers.

One of the more popular printers, the GX2500 supports glossy papers. It also uses water proof and sun resistant ink. It is equipped with a 250-sheet paper tray and carries the standard 16 megabyte memory.

The products of Lanier also include Production printing systems. The company offers four models that only prints, but they also offer five models that can copy, print and scan. To date, they have a total of 15 printers that have been recognized and awarded by different awarding bodies of the industry.

The Facsimile is a multifunctional model that can be used for different purposes ranging from IP Internet Faxing to scanning to email. They have ten models of Facsimile with the highest possible standard memory up to 1,280 pages.

Their Wide Format products were designed for low to medium volume users. Wide Format color scanners are machines that can crop, pre-scan and edit copied images before sending them as files. This includes architectural drawings, blueprints, maps, wrinkled documents, posters or oversized drawings.

A few of Lanier’s products have been given the Energy Star award. This award is given to companies with products that confirm the company’s concern for the environment.
