Description: The word “LapLink” was originally a name given to a DOS program developed by Mark Eppley. The program was designed to make the transfer of data possible between different computers and laptops. The program became so popular that the term “LapLink” eventually became associated with every transfer of files between computers.

At present, Laplink is one of the world leaders in computer connectivity. It is a privately-held company that was established in 1982 with a main office at Bellevue, Washington. They also have field offices in Europe as well as in Canada. Laplink used to carry a different company name. However, when it was recently acquired by another corporation; they adopted the name LapLink Software, Inc.

Thomas Koll currently acts as the present Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Laplink with Randall Clark as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). Other top executives of the company include Mark Chestnut as SVP of Corporate Sales and Business Development, Jack Wilson as CTO Vice-President, and Emir Aboulhosn as Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications.

Laplink’s expertise on connectivity include computer migration, transferring of files, and remote computer support. The company’s signature product is the Pcmover. The Pcmover is the predecessor of the company’s product called Laplink cable that was created in 1983 to facilitate the transfer of information from one computer to another. It is now considered as the global leader among migration products; beating its competitors in sales at a ratio of almost 3:1.

In year 2007, the company released the PDAsync. It is a device that is capable of synchronizing business information from several other devices. In coming out with the product, the company utilized and exclusively developed the patented technology known as Speed Sync.

Just very recently, the company also released a product which they called “Laplink Everywhere 5”. It is another device that allows remote access solutions and demonstrates compatibility with different types of mobile devices and computers. Other world-renowned products of the company include Laplink Gold 12, ShareDirect and Laplink Everywhere 4.

To date, Laplink has released fourteen generations of file transfer and synchronization devices. The company’s product development had expanded to include network-based, peer to peer and wireless technologies to address the need of the increasingly mobile population.
