Description: Lucky Star Technology Co., Ltd, a company established in Taiwan, R.O.C, has been involved in the IT industry since 1986. Lucky Star is primarily focused on industrial based quality motherboards for computer systems, including other peripherals such as sound and graphic cards. The company also assembles bare bone computer systems as well as industrial PC boards.
The company prides itself as a dedicated and highly professional designer and manufacturer of computer components. The goal of the company is to attain a level of performance and quality both for its products and its operation that would conform to the international IT market standards.
Jennifer Chien, the main personality behind the operation of Lucky Star Technology Co., Ltd, explains that to maintain competitiveness in a constantly changing IT market, the company has to exert additional dedication for the development of more products. Furthermore, she noted that the computer industry continuously adapts to new trends and technologies and the burden of providing adequate resources to address these needs are squarely placed on the shoulders of manufacturers like them.
One of the more prominent achievements of Lucky Star is the introduction of its Fanless Mini ITX computer motherboard on July 10, 2002. This product proved to be the initial release in a series of computer chipsets that are built on the VIA Eden platform. Partnering with the renowned silicon chip technology developer and innovator VIA Technologies was to the advantage of Lucky Star in its quest to deliver quality PC standard solutions.
The fanless VIA Eden Platform was featured on the LIVE 1000 Embedded System motherboard released by the company. According to its Vice President for Sales, Jackson Wang, the decision to develop the fanless Mini-ITX motherboard was based on the clamor of their customers since the announcement of the VIA Eden Platform. The interest on this technology was primarily generated during the CeBIT held in Germany during the same year.
The Mini-ITX format board uses the fanless VIA Eden ESP 6000 processor along side other Mini-ITX functionalities (like onboard audio, graphics, LAN (optional TV-Out and DOC), and USB port) that are conveniently arranged on the 17cm x 17cm ultra compact computer motherboard. This design makes the Mini-ITX motherboards appealing to a large number of IT markets which prompted the research on more innovations based on this platform.
