Description: MagicXpress was established in the year 1989 and is known as a manufacturer of various computer peripherals and accessories, including modems (data, fax and voice), 56k modems, PCM/ CIA cards, ISDN adapter cards, video phone system, internet set up box, ADSL products and remote access servers. The company initially had 650 employees, and had a production of 500,000 products in the span of one month. MagicXpress has manufacturing plants in Taiwan and Vietnam. Their main office used to be in Sunnyville, New Jersey, California. When the company started to expand, they moved to an office in Factory Drive, Pomona, California.

In 1996, MagicXpress established a new department catering to consumer products and retail branding. They expanded their network and added a new line of products and devices under its brand name. Added products include 33.6 modems, 56K modems, MagiCast Videophone, ISDN devices, and internet set top box.

In 1997, MagicXpress integrated their US operations with another company in the IT industry─Taiwan’s Askey Computer Corporation. Askey developed MagicXpress. The company branded and marketed its products in the United States and other retail channels. The partnership of Askey Computer Corporation and MagicXpress built a stronger name for both companies in the IT industry, not only in the United States, but also in the global market. From then on, MagicXpress has been an official division of Askey USA Computer Corporation.

MagicXpress manufactured a number of modems under its brand which includes unit models MX33, MX33V, MX33VX, MX33X, and MX33PCM. Most modems have a number of features including 56kbps upgradeable speed, video phone ready, voice response and mail capabilities with send and receive fax abilities of up to 14,400 bps. Other features and bundled software that come with the MagicXpress modems include fax application software, communication software, Internet Explorer, internet phone software and website builder.

MagicXpress’ 56K modem product is one of its bestselling devices in the IT market. Some of these products are internal data fax and voice for desktop computers (MX56V), external modem devices (MX56VX) and PCMCIA data fax modem for notebooks (MX56PCM). Product prices ranged from $120 to $220 per product unit.
