Phoenix Technologies Bios and Drivers Update
Company Name: Phoenix Technologies
Description: Phoenix Technologies (formerly Phoenix Software Associates) was founded by Neil Colvin in nineteen seventy-nine. After working for Xitan, a manufacturer of personal computers, Colvin hired Dave Hirschman of the same company and rented Phoenix Software Associates’ first office at 151 Franklin Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
Phoenix released its first Random Operating Memory BIOS in 1984, and this would help fuel a seventy percent growth in sales for the following four years. In 1987, Phoenix acquired Softstyle Inc., Softset Inc., and started a publishing division.
Phoenix launched its initial public offering in June 1988. However, it did not sustain its peak stock price and announced a loss of $7.7 million a year after. In 1992, Phoenix acquired Quadtel, a newer line of BIOS ROMS which replaced the older Phoenix products. In 2006, Phoenix went through consolidation and focused on PC BIOS products and other applications.
Update Phoenix Technologies Drivers BIOS Now!
Phoenix Technologies started out by acquiring a non-exclusive license for 86-DOS and creating modified versions for other micro processor platforms. Consequently, the company is now known for its BIOS products.
In a personal computer, the BIOS is the firmware (small program stored in a ROM chip in the PC motherboard) that initializes the hardware devices in preparation for the operating system software.
After the creation of the PMate Dos file editor and PForCe, a collection of C language libraries, Phoenix started developing a ROM BIOS that would be compatible to the popular IBM PC in 1983. This would allow Personal Computers from other manufacturers to run the same programs that run on the IBM PC. This supported the growth of the company as well as the entire PC industry, and Phoenix continued to develop other BIOS ROMs after this.
Phoenix Technologies Drivers and BIOS Development
In 1992, the focus of development was on the acquired Quadtel BIOS that would later be released as the popular PhoenixBIOS.
Current Phoenix BIOS/Drivers
As of todays date, Phoenix products are widely used and consist of Core Systems Software and Platform Software. The Core Systems Software line retains the BIOS products, but several features are now integrated (such as security, maintenance and device management) to the original basic firmware. The Platform Software group carries products for companies that manufacture computers.
