Protocol -nohomehttp

Details: Protocol -nohomehttp

Many users have encountered what looks like a protocol -nohomehttp. This particular prefix appears in the Web browser’s address bar where you would normally see the “HTTP” protocol. When protocol -nohomehttp appears in the address bar, the page that would normally display does not appear. In essence, protocol -nohomehttp is more like an error message rather than an actual communications protocol. It is telling the user that the home page cannot be displayed. This could be a simple matter of having no home page set under the Internet Options property dialog box. Another Internet setting, an inadvertent switch to using a proxy server, has also been mentioned as a possible cause for the protocol -nohomehttp display. Most of the information about protocol -nohomehttp appears to be anecdotal and this protocol does not appear to be an actual standardized protocol. If your Web browser displays “no home” before the “HTTP” part of your Web address, several possibilities exist including a missing home page setting, an inadvertent switch to a proxy server, and perhaps even interference from computer security software blocking potentially malicious sites. Many users have reported being able to access the blocked site by manually deleting the “-nohome” prefix but permanent fixes appear to be elusive and inconsistent.
