Since 1995, when DVDs started becoming indispensable for media recording, Raite Optoelectronics was set up by the Royal Group. In response to the demand that was to be expected, the company was finally established in April 1998.
The research and development departments initially depended on the knowledge of the Japanese firm’s technical knowledge transfer. The highly skilled technical staff of the company very soon positioned it in the DVD field. It very successfully developed 2X speed DVD-ROMs. Raite was the first company in Taiwan to produce and even market DVD-ROMs. Then the company went on to develop MPEG-II card and DVD players.
The company built a research and development team in mainland China in 1999. It had given the market DVD-RAMs and many compact models of DVDs for use in notebook computers. The company used the market channels already discovered and explored by the Royal Group to its advantage and emerged as one of the top 5 manufacturers in the year 2000.
The company became a global mainstream supplier in a very short time. The company has modified its factory in Ilan and equipped it with new fully automated machines. This in turn has lowered costs and increased the standards of the products. This change has earned the company an edge over the competitive production capabilities of other companies.
Raite DVD players have NUON as the new compelling feature. The next generation of Raite DVD players would be equipped with the NUON technology.
