Description: Seagull is a computer software firm founded in 1990. It has two headquarters – one in Netherlands and another in Atlanta, Georgia. The company creates application programs that convert legacy applications into service-oriented architecture web services.

Their objective is to provide quicker and more productive IT support for commerce amendment, ascendancy, and conformity. Industries using legacy applications may allocate and expand with innovative applications and clients without the concern of altering. There are six Seagull offices and over thirty independent distributors globally that cater to the company’s customers.

Seagull launched its first product into the market in 1992 called the Text Translation Tool (TTT™). It aids computer industry consumers in converting enterprise applications into whichever of the many available foreign languages. Seagull intended this program for translators and designed it in such a way that modifications and coding to host applications were not needed.

In 1994, Seagull disclosed its second product; the GUI/400, which brought a Graphical User Interface or GUI, as well as various fonts, push buttons, icons, business graphics and mouse support into AS/400 applications already available. After a year of production, IBM endorsed GUI/400 as well. By 1995 Seagull Software attained an American distributor and launched its first subsidiary with the intention of including US market among its clientele.

Seagull Software introduced two additional products, J Walk and Winja between 1997 and 1998. These were eventually renamed as LegaSuite GUI to bring the products together so as to abridge marketing. The said products remained the same with only their brand names altered and licensed. These programs turned earlier forms of applications or those green-screen applications into GUIs using an extensive series of host platforms with fully adaptable GUI controls and design features.

In 1998, Seagull Software widened their operations and directed sales worldwide. They launched additional posts in England, Germany and France. The International Data Corporation (IDC) classified the company as the top Legacyware vendor within the same year.

February of 1999 proved to be a turning point of Seagull Software as it made a public offering for the Amsterdam Exchange. After launching its fifth product Magazine Software 500 ranked Seagull as #284 on its list of software companies.

They acquired Renex Corporation in 2001. With it, they also obtained Mainframe connectivity proficiency along with second-generation Emulation Technology. The company once again landed the spot as the top Legacyware vendor for the third time in a row.

In 2004, Seagull Software expanded its business territory by opening an Australian branch to cater to Australia and New Zealand markets and further penetrate the Asia Pacific region. Seagull Software acquired SofTouch Systems a year later and added CrossPlex to its product line-up. They also managed to obtain Oak Grove Systems thus becoming the pioneer in the legacy integration market.
