Description: The Seiko Group is a business faction composed of three separate and entirely independent entities. The entire group consists of the Seiko Holdings Corporation, Seiko Instruments Incorporated, and Seiko Epson Corporation. Originally, a maker of watch parts for Seiko timepieces, Seiko Epson Corporation became one among leading manufacturers of computers, printers, multimedia devices and other related electronic products. Although they are all in Japan and deal in relatively the same technology industry, they are not affiliated in any way other than those things.

Seiko Holdings Corporation began as a watch and jewelry shop under the name of K. Hattori back in 1881. The shop was located in the Ginza section of Japan. After eleven years of business Seiko, an industrial unit that made wall clocks took over. There was an integration of the company in 1917 under the name K. Hattori & Company Ltd. In 1983, the company was repackaged as Hattori Seiko Company Ltd. It was finally called Seiko Corporation by the year 1990.

In 1983, Daini Seiko Co., Ltd. was renamed Seiko Instruments & Electronics Ltd. The existing name Seiko Instruments Inc. was acknowledged in 1997 with headquarters located in the Makuhari business district of Chiba Prefecture, Japan with subsidiaries and representative offices worldwide. Business enterprise is done with rivals like Hitachi, NEC Electronics, and Toshiba.

Subsequently, it turned into an investment company by 2001 and was renamed Seiko Holdings Corporation. Presently, Katsumi Yamamura acts as chairman and the position of the presidency is tasked upon Koichi Murano with Reijiro Hattori as the honorary chairman. One of the vital companies of Seiko Group, Seiko Instruments Inc., or SII is identified with producing and trading of semiconductor, micromechatronics devices, network components, information-related equipments and services, printers, scientific instruments and precision timepiece technology. In 1937, Daini Seiko Co., Ltd. in Kamedo, Koto, Japan was formed to be the second industrial unit to manufacture Seiko timepieces.
