Silicon Image has recently released chipset-technology architecture to enable portable devices like camcorders, cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, and PDAs or Personal Digital Assistants to connect straight to HDTV connections.

Simplay Labs, LLC is one of Silicon Image’s subsidiaries. Established in 2006 and also based in Sunnyvale, California, it offers technologies, testing tools, consulting and product certification, and support services to electronics manufacturing companies. It delivers HD performance standards, tools for development, and technologies for PC and CE product manufacturers.

In January 2007, Silicon Image acquired Sci-worx GmbH, a principal intellectual property and provider of design service that specializes in communications, multimedia, and networking applications.

Silicon Image licenses its IP (Intellectual Property) core technology to companies providing SoC (System-On-a-Chip) devices which integrate these interfaces. According to Gartner Incorporated, the company has become part of the top 10 semiconductor IP license vendors in the international market.
