The company continues to expand its network by establishing subsidiaries like Sunplus Technology (HK) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd., Sunmedia Technology Co., Ltd., Orise Technology Co., Ltd., and Sunplus Prof-tek Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. In 2007, Sunplus acquired majority of the stake at Sunplus Mobile, Inc.

Some of the acclaimed competitors of Sunplus include Acer Sertek Inc., Canon Electronics Inc., Dynamics Research Corporation, Genicom Corporation, and Zebra Technologies Corporation.

In spite of the company’s numerous numbers of competitors the company still maintains its good and strategic position in growing market of IC distribution. The company’s main markets are in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Last September 2007, Sunplus was awarded the “National Invention and Creation Award” by the Taiwanese government for its product called Sunplus 32-bits processor core (S+core®). In the same year, the company gained world recognition when it launched the world’s first new generation DVD player platform that has the world’s first SoC solution.
