Systemax mainly markets branded computer products like desktop computers and laptops, and other computer and industrial products. It also supports and markets computers of other companies such as Hewlett-Packard (HP) and International Business Machines (IBM).

Last January 8, 2008, Systemax acquired CompUSA together with 16 of its outlets in Texas, USA and Puerto Rico. CompUSA is in the e-commerce business.

Systemax is selling widely in North America and Europe among other IT-related equipment. The worldwide headquarters is found in Port Washington, New York.

The company has a strategic marketing plan, using the Internet to make a name worldwide. Apart from that, it also uses relationship marketing and inbound catalog sales. 40,000 products are reaching a customer base of two million because of this marketing strategy.

The company targets medium- to small-size businesses and corporations including the Internet developers and network professionals. Products are distributed mainly through regional distribution centers in North America and Europe.

One of its products is Venture VE55, a personal computer with Windows XP OS. It is an entry-level in the market with power-saving features. Meanwhile, Systemax Hellcat is competing in the gaming industry. Using Athlon 64 X2 and Athlon 64 FX processors with GeForce cards, it is distributed exclusively by TigerDirect. It is pitted directly against Alienware Area 51 and Dell Dimension XPS. The Systemax Tigershark has Core 2 Quads features already with GeForce cards also.

In the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), it is listed under the symbol SYX. The company has its own assembly team, and products are traded under Systemax, Tiger, and Ultra.

Systemax products are marketed under the brand name Misco in European countries.
