Description: Tatung is a manufacturer of consumer products and electronics including LCD TVs, networking devices and home appliances established in 1918. The current chairperson of the company is WS Lin who is also connected with various subsidiaries all around the world.

Fifteen of these partners are located in Asia and seven of its subsidiaries are located in the western part of the United States. The expected IPO capital of Tatung amounts to 945M with 95.4 million shares.

Tatung specializes in heavy-duty industrial materials for businesses such as the provision of wires and cables including optical fibers, gas switch gears, motor generators, and Transformers. The core business of the company includes 3C, wires and cables, industrial appliances, home appliances and corporate administration. For 3C, sales ratios are 49% as of the last quarterly computations, and 19%, 17% and 15% belong to wires and cables, industrial appliances, and home appliances respectively.

Tatung has a capital amounting to US$1.3 billion and its core investments include solar and silicon wafers, optoelectronics, asset development and information technology.

Tatung’s excellence performance in maintaining its quality products in the industry is recognized by an award-giving body in Taiwan. In 2007, it released the much anticipated 42 inch LCD TV which won the “Taiwan Excellence Award”. The company’s IP set-top-box STB2300 also won the same award on that same year. IP set-top-box is a media provider which features advanced digital media capabilities and Internet connectivity. Home appliances include an inverter controlled refrigerator and air-conditioner which again gave the company the "Taiwan Excellence Award".

In the industrial appliance field, the company was contracted to manufacture a high-voltage motor for the Forced Drop Fan to be used in the Mississippi power plant in the United States. The company was also contracted to manufacture four units of super large mill motors to be used in mining operations worldwide.

The main industry in which it competes is the technology industry in Taiwan, focusing on industrial and consumer products based on connectivity, display and other home-based technologies.

Recently, however, Tatung is varying its strategies across multiple industries including that of industrial technology and network connectivity design.

Tatung currently has 222 retail stores in Taiwan and executes promotion projects with other channels. Currently, there is a three year store renovation process expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
