Description: The Toyo Engineering Corporation (TEC) is a company based in Japan that focuses on research and development of engineering systems and technology. It was established in 1961 with its first head office in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.

The company is currently headed by Yushi Nagata as its Chairman, Yutaka Yamada as the company President and is also supervised by its Executive Vice Presidents Kazuhisa Marukawa and Yoshitaka Ogata.

In its early years, it collaborated with the different companies in various countries such as the United States of America for technical assistance and engineering service in 1962. It also closed an agreement with the Fertilizer Corporation in India for establishing a fertilizer plant in 1963. In 1964, it opened a contract with the former Soviet Union for the establishment of a urea plant.

The company concentrates on test operations in general chemicals, natural gas, petrochemicals, medicine, biotechnology, advanced production systems and other biological, chemical and environmental aspects in each of its manufacturing plants. It also develops various engineering software for the development of its operations.

TEC developed the XY Router, an automated engineering system that eliminates cross-contamination among products that flow in different paths at the same time. It targets to eliminate the immediacy of repairs and damage control and the difficulty of clean-up and maintenance in its systems.

It is also the developer of the WebMethods platform, an operating system used to integrate systems within the company for easy data mapping, linking and accumulation and application integration among manufacturing and testing sites. It is aimed at process automation, to lower overhead costs and to enhance system coordination among different subsystems of the company.

The WebMethods platform has a wide range of system adapters for it to adjust with the different systems that it is manufacturing and testing plants use. It makes use of adapters to different systems such as Informix, Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server to integrate data and coordinate from one engineering center to another.

It also developed InternetINQ, a Web-based interface that can be used by interested buyers to purchase and acquire products of the company through the Internet. Inquiries about product acquisition and technical bids would be sent to potential buyers through a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or PDF file.

TEC also has affiliate companies such as the Toyo Business Engineering Corporation, which was a former subsidiary of TEC until it became independent in 1999. It then established offices outside Japan such as China, Indonesia, Russia, Iran, Malaysia and USA.
