Description: Technisat initially created satellites that broadcasted programs through televisions. Peter Lepper founded TechniSat in 1987. The company began producing solutions in the mechanical field. TechniSat later established its central depot in Daun, Germany. TechniSat’s President of the Management Board was Christa Marx.

TechniSat collaborated with VEB Elektrotechnik Eisenach, a manufacturer of switching elements and car radios for Eastern Europe’s automobile industry at the Leipzig Trade Fair. TechniSat also presented the Mini-Satenne satellite. It was the smallest satellite worldwide. It can receive the Digital Satellite Radio (DSR) programs and has a length of 19 cm on its side.

The company received its first award because of its success in developing the SATENNE flat antenna. It had a compact size for satellite TV-Sats. They later designed a complete system that consisted of a satellite receiver and an outdoor unit. It received an award from Stiftung Warentest.

Recognizing the company’s initial release of the DSR, the German Museum’s reference book honored TechniSat as a main contributor to the country’s technological advancement since 1945. Afterwards, TechniSat became the pioneering company in manufacturing a compatible receiver unit for the development of ASTRA Digital Radio. The company developed its first DVB receiver in 1998.

TechniSat started manufacturing car radios in 2005. It was certified with an ISO/TS 16949:2002. The company also acquired recognition in radio broadcasting, serving radio programs with the ASTRA satellite system. Other channels began to also use ASTRA afterwards.

TechniSat released its HD-Vision 32 and the Multytenne at a home entertainment and broadcasting fair in Berlin. These antennas featured an integrated multi-tuner, which can receive from four satellite locations about 3,000 programs without requiring a rotating motor.

Later in the year, Technisat established a new manufacturing facility in Oborniki Slaskie, Poland to expand further its services, starting with the Multicrypt 1 CI module. The module allowed the processing of a couple of encryption systems, CryptoWorks and CONAX.

TechniSat created the RADIOROPA Horbuch, which went on air with the audiobook program. The company expanded the package with two new channels, RADIOROPA Horbuch 2 and 3. The company later named the predecessor of the product as Horbuch 1. It then released a Pay-Radio station through DVB-T in Germany. The audiobook channel used CONAX encryption and was broadcasted in Berlin.

Today, TechniSat’s high-edge quality products are developed at Dresden’s TechniSat Digital GmbH and produced in 3 German locations.
