Description: Global Telemann Systems, Inc. (Telemann) is a primary technological company for satellite-based multimedia services. A California-based corporation, it was founded in February 1997 by Yong Man Kim, the CEO and President.

Telemann is widely known for multimedia and data broadcasting via satellite. Its Internet products started with the uplink and downlink sites. It is the first company to introduce PC Cards with satellite reception and the capability to handle DVB MPEG-II video/audio and Internet TCP/IP data stream.

Telemann’s technology differs from those of its competitors owing to its unique capability known as “On Board Graphic Overlay.” By transmitting, receiving and decoding multiple streams of data all at the same time, it enables both MPEG and TCP/IP service to the PC. This technology, which can encapsulate data files all on a single monitor, enabled Telemann to produce one of its advancements in satellite broadcasting, the SkyMedia-200.

The SkyMedia-200 is a cutting-edge PC Card solution which speeds up the transmission of data in the Internet via satellite. It became the first DVB-Data Broadcasting Standard compliant card, which is marker capable of decoding diverse DVB MPEG-2 data broadcasting streams and MPEG-2 video on one board.

With the growing popularity of Windows NT and Linux as operating system platforms, Telemann configured its SkyMedia products to support a wider range of environment and computer software applications.

Telemann has developed secure protocols, encryption algorithms, Conditional Access System (AcessGate), the Local Area Network routing software (LANGator), IP-DVB Gateway (TMID-200) and the Network Management System for satellite links.

In 1998, it formed a partnership with Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd. to produce high quality satellite PC Cards. The following year, it collaborated with LuxSat International SA to launch the first satellite Pan-European Internet webcasting for the general public.

Telemann has also become the major supplier for several international service providers, such as The Internet Group of New Zealand and Hyundai Motors of Korea. It has provided a turn-key system for Indonesia’s PT Telecom. It has also supported China Educational TV, a huge distance learning project that encompasses all schools and universities in the country.

The Ministry of Communication of Korea presented the New Excellent Technology Award to Telemann in 1998 as recognition for its world-class quality products.
