Description: Terratec Company was established in 1994 by Heiko Meertz and Walter Grieger who are both currently acting as CEOs in Nettetal. It is a German-based company that produces computer speakers, mice, webcams, sound cards, TV tuner cards and frame grabbers. The name “Terratec” was derived from “terra” meaning earth, and “tec,” the Latin word for technology. The founders of Terratec wanted to integrate ecology with technological resources. This ideal was incorporated in all its business endeavors.

The company developed graphic cards in its early years but later shifted to creating sound cards due to the downfall of its original products. The company intended its sound cards specifically for home use.

Terratec manufactures technological solutions focuses on multimedia devices. These products are compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. Some solutions it provides are: viewing TV shows from your PC or laptop, radio and podcasts via the internet, online communication, home recording with sound cards and transferring data from VHS tapes directly to the hard drive of CD/DVD.

It also developed external sound cards that connect to a USB port. Among these sound cards are Aureon Dual USB and Aureon 5.1 USB MK II. The DMX 6Fire USB is its most featured sound card. It is an external audio system intended for deejays, gamers, and musicians. This sound card provides a USB 2.0 jack, with an engine running at 24 bits per 192 kHz. Terratec also provides software encoding solutions for converting records. One of its products, the Grabber AV 150 MX, acts as an external device for transferring data from video recording gadgets. It connects to these devices with an S-video or composite cable.

Terratec recently released its newly developed pickup, the AXON PU 100, in Musikmesse. The company developed the product in collaboration with Seymour Duncan. Musikmesse is a yearly exhibit in Frankfurt that features the latest trend in musical instruments and electronic equipments. Terratec acquired Axon as its own brand in releasing converters for guitar synthesizers. These included the latest models of AX50USB and AX100. Terratec later focused on developing multimedia innovations, establishing the 4G Sound and EWS Technology standards.
