Description: Texas Instrument Company was founded by Eugene McDermott, J.Erik Jonsson, Patrick E. Haggerty, and Cecil H. Green in 1951. They bought the company in 1941. In the same year, GSI, in which the founders were just employees by then, hired Patrick Haggerty to become the General Manager of the company’s Laboratory and Manufacturing Division.

In 1951, the Laboratory and Manufacturing Division was reorganized and renamed the General Instruments Inc. It was also in the same year when GSI changed its name to Texas Instrument. The Geophysical Services Inc. became a TI subsidiary until early 1988.

TI’s executive officers are Rich Templeton, Chairman, President and CEO; Steve Anderson, Senior Vice President and Worldwide Manager Power Management; Greg Delagi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Terminals Business Unit; Art George, Senior Vice President and Worldwide Manager HPA; Mike Hames, Senior Vice President and Manager of Application Specific Products; Dave Heacok, Senior Vice President HVAL; Joe Hubach, Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel; and Gregg Lowe, Senior Vice President Analog.

Texas Instrument has been bringing impact to the world for about 80 years of inventing integrated circuit. TI does not only manufacture circuits; it also designs and manufactures digital signal processing, digital signal and DLP hip technologies. Texas Instrument has served electronic companies around the world by providing them with semiconductor technologies to support better efficiency, enhance performances, deliver more value, and enable more features.

Texas Instrument also helps its clients increase the possibilities to connect, learn, discover, and grow. It produces affordable mobile phones to help customers connect to more people, prosthetic devices to give greater confidence, freedom and flexibility, and classroom projectors to support learning.

Today, Texas Instrument has two main divisions: the Educational Technology Division and Semiconductors Division.

The Semiconductor Division manufactures products such as: Analog chips that convert any pressure, sound, voice, electricity, and temperature into 0s and 1s to power any digital device; Digital Signal Processing, used to help fuel innovative applications for broadband access, high resolution imaging, digital audio, and digital motor control for fast growing markets; Wireless semiconductors that deliver wireless technology to deploy next-generation mobility. And DLP technology used as an optical semiconductor to maneuver digital lights.

The Education Technology division has also introduced the T1-81 graphing calculator. Since then, Texas Instrument became the leading company for math and science technology for educators and students. In 2007, the World Trade Magazine recognized TI with the Manufacturer of the Year for Global Supply Chain Excellence award.
