Description: Trident Modem or Trident Microsystems Inc. is a Santa Clara, California-based designer, developer and marketer of digital television System-On-Chip (SOC) solutions founded in the year 1987.

The executive management team of Trident consists of Sylvia D. Summers as Chief Executive Officer and President; Dr. Donna M. Hamlin as Vice President for Human Resources and Administration; Hungwen Li as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer; Walter Lin as Senior Vice President for Application Engineering; Pete J. Trident also has what it calls the TAFE (Trident Analog Front End) signal processor, which is their solution to mainstream and premium digital TV applications. The DTV demodulator is the latest solution for worldwide digital TV transmission standard.

Trident contracts other companies for wafer fabrication, too. United Microelectronics Corporation and Siliconware Precision Industries are Trident’s primary foundry and packaging/testing houses. Foundry and third party contractors also assure quality and other specifications before shipping finished products.

Trident has sales, support and development centers in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. It made its initial public offering in 1992 and trades under the symbol “TRID” on the NASDAQ Market.
