Company: TTX
Description: TTX Company began its operations on March 17, 1956 with a fleet of 500 75-foot flatcars. TTX Company’s main office is located at 101 N Wacker Drive, Chicago Illinois. Andrew F. Reardon resigned as the President of the company effective December 31, 2008 to become CEO and Chairman while Thomas F. Wells assumed the presidency starting June 1, 2008.
On November 9, 1955, in Delaware, it was reorganized and established as the Trailer Train Company. The first railroad stockholders are Pennsylvania Railroad and Norfolk and Western Railway. The company has three divisions dedicated to the maintenance of its cars. One is located in Acorn in Jacksonville, Florida and it serves cars traveling in the southeastern coast of the United States. The division in Hamburg in North Augusta, South Carolina serves those in the northeastern coast. The third division in Calpro in Mira Loma, California services cars in the southwestern coast. These three divisions perform different types of car repair and modification work and are supported by 31 Field Maintenance Operations (FMOs) offices which regularly inspect their fleet of cars.
One of the primary goals of TTX is to supply well-maintained equipment to its customers while financing them on terms. This is done by sizing their fleet, balancing new equipment acquisitions with modifications and upgrading of their existing fleet.
The main businesses of TTX Company are transportation and manufacturing of monitors.
TTX Company's primary service is the rental of railroad cars. It provides transportation rental and leasing of equipment services to commercial establishments that are related to commercial air, rail and water transport. They also serve industries not directly related to transport but need to move their products from the place of production to sales locations. These include businesses engaged in the automobile, lumber, steel, agriculture, construction, machinery and any other industry commodity groups where flatcars, boxcars and gondolas are necessary. They are even tapped to transport military hardware.
Today, the company’s stocks are owned by businessmen from the U.S. and Canada which it also serves as its clients. It has more than 210,000 railcars with three major types: the intermodal, autorack and the general use type. One of TTX Company's recent major investments to upgrade its fleet is the purchase of intermodal cars.
