Description: VIDAR was established in 1984. It specializes in the development and manufacture of large format scanners. In its first seven years, the company purchased Reston Consulting Group and Truvel Corporation, a producer of scanners for the IBM PC and the MAC. In 2002, VIDAR was acquired by Contex Corporation, a Danish manufacturer of large format scanners. Consequently, it became a part of the Contex Group of Companies, which is composed of Contex Corporation, Z Corporation, and VIDAR. In 1997, the company was purchased by RATOS, a private equity company based in Stockholm, Sweden.
