vpr Matrix manufactured the first personal desktop computers which made use of commercial-grade technology. F.A. Porsche, founder of the Austrian firm Porsche Design GmBH, created the look of the vpr Matrix 110 notebook and desktop series. The desktops in this series feature server-class Western Digital 7200 hard drives built at 1500 defect parts per million. They also use RAID motherboards (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks). RAID allows the incorporation of a multiple hard drive system to increase the system’s speed and data security.

vpr Matrix’s desktops also support hyperthreading. This is a new technology which enables high-speed processors to act as if there were two processors working together. Hyperthreading allows vpr Matrix’s desktops to maximize processing power and perform two separate tasks at the same time.

The company’s 200A5 notebook computers are the world’s first Windows-based laptops supporting DVD playback on a 15.2” widescreen display. These notebooks also feature the vpr Matrix Sonopur Digital Audio System. The Sonopur Digital Audio System uses advanced 24/192 technology, allowing clear, rich, and realistic playback of music for vpr Matrix’s laptops.

vpr Matrix products are exclusively available in more than 500 Best Buy stores and in Porsche Design Boutiques in Beverly Hills, Orange Country and Aspen, Colorado. They can also be purchased from Best Buy’s online store.

With only five years of existence, vpr Matrix’s products have been recognized by several experts in the field of computers. In 2003, several of the company’s products received four-out-of-five star ratings from PC World Magazine. The 200A5 notebook was given the Best Computer – Mobile Entertainment Center award, by the Jon Peddie Research group; Best Computer – Notebook, by Dwight Silverman of the Houston Chronicle; and Best Sound from a Notebook, by Popular Science Magazine.
