Description: Wistron Neweb Corporation (WNC) is a company which focuses on the development and manufacture of wireless communication products. WNC was established in 1996. Since then, it has been providing technical support for system integration, software and hardware, RF antennas, mechanical design, interface development, and product testing and certification. WNC’s wireless communication products are distributed globally. The company is also partnered with many system operators and content service providers.

Haydn Hsieh is WNC’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He is also the President of Mobile Computing Business Unit and the Senior Vice President of Acer, Inc. Jaffrey Gau is the company’s Chief Operations Officer. WNC’s Vice Presidents are the following: K.H. Cheng, Larry Lee, G.K. Lee, Fayu Chen, and Bosqre Lee.

WNC wields complete control of the design and manufacture of its products to maintain quality and effectiveness. It also provides customized designs for software and hardware solutions. WNC also has extensive experience as a supplier of short, medium, and long-term wireless communication technologies for OEMs/ODMs (original equipment manufacturers/original design manufacturers).

The company’s research and development team is composed of staff engineers who account for more than forty percent of its employees. The staffs expertise lie in the fields of wireless communication, antenna design, mechanical engineering, software development, base band, user interface, and RF receiver/transmitter design. The company also has high-end R&D facilities and equipment which ensure efficient and effective product manufacturing. These include a 3D testing chamber, shielding rooms, a shielding box, a CCX server, a Wi-Fi WPA testbed, and other quality-testing equipment. WNC also has ISO9001, ISO14001, and TS16949 certifications.

The WNC headquarters is located at Li-Hsin Road, Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It has a manufacturing plant in Hsin-An Road, also at the Hsinchu Science Park. It has established operation bases in other parts of Taiwan, the USA, and in Shenzhen, Kunshan, and Nanjing in China.

WNC has six business units which are responsible for the development of its product lines. These are: the STB BU, the Networking Devices BU, the Mobile Communications BU, the ADM BU, the Antenna BU, and the Direct Broadcast Satellite BU.

In 2007, Time Magazine named WNC’s Wi-Fi Phone with built-in Skype software the “Gadget of the Year.” That same year, the company delivered over 1 million high-definition TV satellites to its customers worldwide. The company’s products have also been recognized by award-giving bodies. The Innovation Product Awards from the Hsinchu Science Park for the WNC Wi-Fi Media Frame; the CES Innovations and Design Engineering Award for the WNC GPRS/Wi-Fi Dual Net Phone; and the Taiwan Symbol of Excellence for the WNC Wi-Fi Phone are some of them.
