Description: Zebra was formed in 1969 under the name Data Specialties Inc. the company is based in Vernon Hills, Illinois. It manufactures high-speed electromechanical products. In 1982, this company changed focus on specializing ticketing systems and in-demand labeling. It was officially became Zebra Technologies Corp. in 1986.

In 1991, Zebra became a public trading company having annual sales of more than $650 million. Anders Gustafsson, who served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Spirent Communications, is the current CEO of Zebra.

The company manufactures printers in U.S.-based facilities in Camarillo and Vernon Hills, Ill, California. Zebra also distributes and manufactures Genuine Zebra Supplies from its bases in Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Rhode Island and Preston, England.

Its products include thermal bar code receipt printers and supplies, digital photo printers, plastic card printers and radio-frequency identification printers and encoders. It also develops printing media software to support its products.

One of its products, the ZebraDesigner Pro bar code label design application, makes new ease of power and utility to the desktop. It features a Windows-based and intuitive interface, including a WYSIWYG label designer. It also includes RFID Wizards and new designs and RFID Wizards. This software creates complex labels that are based on variable or fixed data “click” simple. It also has tools for configuring printer. With this, the user gains memory for simplified printer management and greater control over printer settings.

To match the functionality of its printers, the company included ZebraDesigner™ Label Design Software, ZebraDesigner for XML and Label Vista in the line of the software if offers. In terms of printer management, ZebraNet Bridge Enterprise was introduced to support the maintenance of the printer itself.
